Neck Scarves

Neck scarves/handkerchiefs/neck ties fall into our "simple accessories" we talked about a couple weeks ago while still making a big statement. They bring us back to the 50s (a la poodle skirts and leather jackets) but with a modern touch. The difference between a neck tie and a regular scarf is that instead of letting it drape around your torso with a regular sized scarf, a neck scarf is only being showcased at the neck and stopping mid chest. It creates a more dramatic look because it brings the eye directly to the neck and face and brings this edgy appeal to the outfit. To master this look, it is easier to use a smaller scarf but we have used some of our longer/bigger scarves and wrapped it around the neck a couple times to achieve the same idea. If you are using a square scarf you can go ahead and wrap it around the neck and tie it in the back leaving a little triangle on the neck. If instead you want it to be tied in the front, try wrapping the scarf to create a long piece of fabric, wrapping it around the neck and tying the extra pieces in the front (as shown above). For ladies we love it with a simple tee a pair of cutoffs and ankle booties. For guys you can try it with a white tee a leather jackets and skinnies. If you want to try out the neck scarf, shop this, this, this and this scarf from Topshop.
