The fifties gave us great fashion from costume items like poodle skirts and staple pieces like leather jackets and white tees rolled up at the sleeve (i.e. James Dean). For men, it seemed like if they were not in a suit or wearing a leather jacket they were always showing off their arms. That translated into their button downs, which were designed to be fitted with short sleeve arms in pastel colors. They worked with a man's dark wash denim and penny loafers but today are being styled differently. These button downs sixty years later are now used for casual workwear that flatter the man because of their form fitting design and because they stand out amongst the standard work shirt.
Topman takes an affordable approach to the biggest trends and our favorite classics. One classic we have seen them master is workwear. They design the perfect trousers, suits and tops that every guy needs but also provide them with trend pieces to switch up the work routine. One of those items is the short sleeve button down that has come back as a trend piece all these years later. We like them paired with fitted trousers for day and for night swap the bottoms out for skinnies and a pair of chelsea boots to finish it off. Check out our favorites from Topman below.
